Traffic Impacts

Intermittent Flagging Throughout the Project, from 0.5 km east of Essex Road 23 easterly to 1.0 km east of Essex Road 34, March 2024 to December 2024

On September 4, 2024, Highway 3 access travelling northbound on Concession Road 8 was permanently closed. 

On September 4, 2024, Highway 3 access travelling northbound on Concession Road 9 was permanently closed. 

A cul de sac will be added to the road to enable larger vehicles such as school buses to turn around and travel south on Concession Road 9. 

Please be advised of the following closure:

September 25 to November 5, 2024

Essex Road 18 - both north and south of Highway 3 to be closed. Access to Highway 3 will not be available from Essex Road 18 - north or south during this time.

This closure is required to facilitate the reconstruction of the intersection to its final configuration. All work will be completed while maintaining traffic in both directions on Highway 3. During this closure the installation of temporary traffic signals will also be completed.

Detour routes will be signed for both the north and south closure.

Closure #1: Ongoing

Essex Road 27 south of Highway 3 to be closed. Access to Highway 3 will not be available from Essex Road 27 - south during this time.

Closure #2: Will be rescheduled

Essex Road 27 north of Highway 3 to be closed. Access to Highway 3 will not be available from Essex Road 27 - north during this time.

Closure #3: Will be rescheduled

Essex Road 27 south of Highway 3 to be closed. Access to Highway 3 will not be available from Essex Road 27 - south during this time.

These closures are required to facilitate the installation of a large box culvert crossing Highway 3 while removing the existing culvert crossing. All work will be completed while maintaining traffic in both directions on Highway 3. Closure #3 is also required to reconstruct Essex Road 27 south of Highway 3 to the project limits and installation of temporary traffic signals.

Closures will occur in sequence (Closure #1 will be followed by Closure #2, and #3). These closures are anticipated to be completed and access to and from the north restored later this fall. 

​

Detour routes will be signed for each closure.
